I have learned so much re: Mental Health Nursing this year. So my biggest learning curve has been learning the "art" of Mental Health nursing overall utilising the Mental Health Act 2014. I have enjoyed this year immensely. Adhering to all the National Competency Standards for a Registered Nurse and the Mental Health Act 2014 has been my biggest learning.
Nursing care of the mental health patient from de-escalating to running groups and being proactive in many other areas has helped me feel that I can practice independently and as part of a team, assume accountability and be responsible for my own actions.
Providing evidence-based nursing care to my patients and communicating in an excellent manner to all staff and patients.
I feel I now promote and maintain health and prevention of illness for individuals with a mental illness (and physical), assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating my nursing care in collaboration with individuals and the multidisciplinary health care team so to achieve goals and outcomes.
A fantastic year of experience and learning!
